Exactly what the title says. Never had this problem before but this week it started happening regularly. I pay for sprints mobile hotspot service and for some reason whenever a call is coming in to the house land line my connection is immediately interrupted. As soon as I hear the first ring of the house phone my mobile hotspot disconnects. It makes no sense to me because as far as I know the two lines aren't related in any way. I will let you know that my phone is connected to the charger and plugged into the wall when this is happening but I didn't think that would cause any thing like this to happen. I haven't called sprint yet about this problem because they've been of no help on previous issues. If anybody has experienced this before or has any suggestions please comment. All help would be greatly appreciated. Like I said this has never been a problem until this week but now my hotspot disconnects on the very first ring of the house phone. Very odd!

That's weird. Doesn't seems like that should be possible. Questions:

1) Does it only happen when the Evo is plugged into the wall? What if you're using mobile hotspot without it being plugged in? (Try it and let me know.)

2) Is your landline phone(s) a traditional corded phone or is it cordless? Does it plug into an AC outlet? Do you have an answering machine that plugs into an AC outlet? (Trying to figure out if there's any connections between your landline and your wall power.) Is it on the same circuit?

3) Is your cell signal coming from an Airwave or something like similar that plugs into your wall power, or is it coming directly from the cell tower? Is it on the same circuit?

My guess is that when a landline call comes in something connected to both your landline and wall power is causing either a voltage drop or a voltage surge that freaking out the Evo. This shouldn't happen and seems very unlikely, but it's the only thing I can think of. It'd be informative to use an analog multimeter to watch for changes in the AC voltage as a call comes in. Do you have one? Do you know how to do that?

set your wifi tethering to a different channel. most wireless phones operate on the 2.4ghz range as does most wifi hotspots. set your phones wifi to channel 10 or 11, or whatever channel you can successfully change the results with.

This seems like a much more plausable explanation than the stuff I came up with.
