Hotspot speeds

I just activated the hotspot on my evo. Testing it with my bluray player. Seems to keep up fairly well with youtube. But it's having so hard time keeping up with movies, both HD and SD. Lots of buffering. What I want to know is, are there any apps that can tell me how many kbps are coming out of the hotspot. Did that make sense?

Or would it be the same speeds as I would get from Speedtest?

It all depends on your data signal. Mine flies in a 4G area, but not so much in a 3G area unless I'm at home.

I'm using 4g. Full bars on the phone, just seems like way to much buffering going on. I can see now how netflix shows you the mbps. I'm spending a lot of time a Around .5 mbps. Not happy about that

well it is a phone so its not going to be the best alternative to a router.

No doubt. Just curious if there was way to monitor the actual speeds it's outputting. Actually made it though LOTR Two Towers today. In 720p no less. I was streaming from Vudu. Netflix actually does a bit better, but it seems to be having problems converting to fit my 42 in. screen.
