I'm a short-term trader and it's very important for me to have time shown in seconds continuously in real-time. Note that time in the upper left corner of the notification bar is shown in hours, minutes and seconds on my pixel 6 Pro.

Are pixel phones the only ones that can do this? I returned a Samsung flagship last year because it couldn't show hours, minutes and seconds.

Go into Settings, search for Clock, then go into Clock settings. See attachment.

That only works while you remain in the Clock app. It does not permanently change the settings on your Notifications Bar Clock!

I've permanently changed my notifications bar clock so that it always shows seconds. I need to show seconds on the notifications bar while I'm in my Interactive Brokers trading app because I'm trading 5 minute candles and I need to know exactly where I am in a 5 minute bar while in a short term trade. The Clock App is of no use for that.

You can also try system UI tuner from the Play store. It does not require root nor ADB. I have found that it works just great.

Thanks for the suggestion -- can you specify which one? There are a number of apps with "system UI tuner" in their names.

System UI Tuner is, in fact, what I use. It didn't seem to work for the Samsung I tried last year.

I just read through the author's documentation on Google Play. It would appear that Samsung has disabled System UI Tuner from working. I will never bother trying Samsung again.

It worked on Pixel 4a. Maybe that was when it was on A11. I thought it was annoying.

I didn't know Pixel phones could do that! That's really cool! Thank you for letting us know!

Also, cool wallpaper!

Personally I wouldn't trust the time on a phone to be split second accurate for time critical usage. Better is a watch or clock that syncs to an atomic clock or to the GPS time signal (Seiko Astron range for example).

(my old phone on O2 was about a minute or so slow, my current phone is much better to within a few seconds but you are still relying on their time server for its accuracy)

I'm in lockstep with my feed from the New York stock exchange.

If it's that important, you'd think the stonks app would have a clock built in.

I've been with Interactive Brokers for over 20 years. They are reluctant to do that because it would take an extra line on the phone display to do so, and phone displays are limited as it is. Interactive Brokers support tells me it's too easy to just have time on the notifications bar display seconds.
