How can I change file association for mobi?

On my Planet Gemini (landscape screen) I use File Commander Premium to open a mobi file. It insists that I open the files with "Media365" which I could install. When I tap on "USE A DIFFERENT APP" a new window appears with a larger picture of the Media365 icon. Buttons below it are not accessible.

How can I change/create a file association for mobi files? All the ways suggested on the Web don't work because they all assume that an app is installed which has the association and can be reset.

Unless you install an app that natively registers in the system as supporting MOBI files (I believe these are Kindle files?), you won't get any other options. Unlike Windows, you can't manually specify just any app; here the app has to register first as supporting the file and then you can choose from those registered options.

But I have several apps installed that can open mobi files. The problem is the large Media365 icon that takes up the entire space of the selection field.

Are those apps registered in the system as linked to MOBI files? Again, unless that happens, you have to manually open the file from the app (as it's not registering with the OS as being able to automatically open this type of file).

I can open the files manually. I just cannot register them to open mobi files since Media365 (I don't even know what it is) is the only app listed on the open with mask.

Like I said, you don't register the apps in the system, they have to register on installation (it's in the app's code). If they don't, even if you didn't have Media365 you wouldn't see other apps to handle MOBI files automatically.

If that Media365 is giving you issues, have you tried disabling it or uninstalling?

It isn't actually installed. I think the file manager made by the same company just registered all its sister products as default handlers regardless whether they are installed or not. And because they display these huge icons I cannot change the default handler to something else since there is not enough room on the display.
