How can I check my calendar while on a call?

I think the title says it.... I want to be able to check my calendar app when I'm on a call (Samsung Galaxy S2) without disconnecting the call. This should be pretty basic necessity, I'd think, but I can't find anything in the manual (a PDF file) or on this forum.

Press the. home button while on a call and check out your calendar. Pull down the notification bar to get back to your phone screen or utilize the buttons (hang up, etc) there.

That did it! Seems simple once you know how.... I thought it would hang up the call but I just tried it by calling my home phone. Works fine.
