Am just trying to find the best Way

Re: How can I connect my galaxy s7 to Ethernet adaper

Did you ever find a way yet? I have the pluggable 2.0 adapter from Amazon, but it shows the ethernet connection grayed out when plugged into a switch. You?

Through searching I haven't found any of these adapters that work with Samsung phones.

The link below is how somebody got Ethernet to work on an S6 Edge that was rooted. It appears that by default Ethernet is not enabled in Android phones.

Enabling Ethernet over USB OTG
Enabling Ethernet over USB OTG | Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

I don't think it will work without rooting the phone. I purchased a plugable ethernet adapter and never got it to work. After some research I found that Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7 doesn't allow third party drivers to be installed. The driver would need to be built into the phone by Samsung. I'm very disappointed in Samsung and wanted this feature for quite some time now. This will open the door for all types of new apps. For example, an app to test network cables. The adapters will work with Samsung tablets and other android phones, but doesn't seem to work with Galaxys phones. I will be happy to hear if someone has been successful in adding the adapter without rooting the phone.

You can't really get mad at Samsung for not supporting this. At the end of the day, its a PHONE and they should not be diverting resources and manpower into making it possible to plug in an ethernet cable into the phone. There are soooo few people that actually need this functionality

Not sure why or what but I just picked up a router that can use cell phone as input to then share with home network.

Might achieve what you need?

Dan, I have found that it is needed. Otherwise companies like Plugable wouldn't be selling these products. I personally need it to work with my Samsung S7 to be successful at work as do a number of other fellow employees. Regardless if it's a phone or not, we still utilize the data functionality of the phone. And it's simply a driver that they can add when they program the phone. So at the end of the day, you can either help, or say nothing.

I have no answer for this. But there is a use case for it, otherwise samsung would not have made dex, or the old usb hub that was for the note 2, continuum. This would just bypass the actual dock. Screen mirroring, with ethernet speeds, bt mouse and keyboard. However, I don't think it can run two bt devices at the same time without a dongle, which would get in the way of the ethernet

Sound like we need a short break and perhaps we could read about PUPPAH. Send one of the moderators a PM if you aren't sure what PUPPAH is.
