'Authentification Problem' with Sony xperia on wifi

My 6 month old sony xperia compact has been great but suddenly i get 'authentification problem' with my wifi. Only at home. The laptop still connects fine. I've checked the passwords are ok. Any ideas? the phone still connects to wifi elsewhere. It's pretty annoying.

First thing I'd do is "forget" the connection, turn wifi off, turn it on, hit scan, find the router and set it up again. (Or, if it doesn't find it [mine didn't when I was fooling around earlier today] tap Add Wifi network and add it by hand.)

Since the laptop is connecting, I don't think it's a router problem. (If a phone connects to a router, it assumes that any router with that name is that router. So if you somehow set it to your neighbor's 'linksys' router, and yours is also still named 'linksys', and the authentications are different, it's still trying to use the authentication for your neighbor's router. That's why you should always give your router a unique name.)

I dunno--I've personally encountered this issue before where other devices and computers are connecting fine to the router, but this one device isn't. Rebooting the router has helped me in those situations. I don't have a definitive explanation--just magic, I guess.:p
