How can I fix an Android 5.1 swipe to unlock problem?

android 5.1 swipe to unlock problem

I have a moto g and I just updated to android 5.1. Now when I swipe to unlock my phone I can only go directly to either the phone app or the camera app, but not my desktop. this is VERY annoying. Is there any way to swipe to unlock my phone and go to my regular desktop? If not can I downgrade the os and go back to my old os? I think it was 5.0.
