Unfortunately, LG Keyboard has stopped. Metro PCS

I have a LG Optimus, and I cant use my keyboard. I've tried turning it off and on, Ive taken out the battery, but nothing seems to work. I have a passcode, but cant unlock because the keyboard doesnt even show up. There is nothing wrong with the screen/touch part of it, because I could still swipe to the camera, flashlight, or whatever I programmed that I can use without unlocking my phone. I dont know what to do. I need my phone, but unfortunately cant even access inside it. Tried connecting it through the computer to see if I can change to the phone keyboard instead of the LG keyboard but cant do it without having to unlock my phone for access. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

Welcome to Android Central! This issue seems to crop up from time to time, and unfortunately, I'm not sure if there's a good solution besides doing a hardware factory reset. There usually isn't any way to boot into Recovery Mode on LG phones, so wiping the cache partition isn't an option. Android Device Manager also doesn't help in this situation.

I'm certain by now you've fixed it, but in the event someone else comes along with the same problem, I've found a very easy solution. Though, the solution means unlocking your phone. Sorry to y'all with a text password. :-\

Go to your phone's app settings and go down the list to LG Keyboard. All you have to do is select "Clear Data" on that app. I tried it, and it's been working fine now. It doesn't delete your personal dictionary, I was worried it had but found that it didn't upon typing again. Very easy. Very simple. No factory reset required. As for what causes the problem, I have no idea at all. Hopefully others will find this info to be helpful!

My phone keeps saying LG keyboard has stopped I can't do anything. I can't get into the settings for the keyboard it just goes back to the regular settings menu. My phone reset everything and it turned back on but it still says keyboard has stopped working I'm very frustrated. I don't know what to do. :'(

I was one of those people with the same problem, I say was, because your advice worked. Hello Delzi. Thanks for the advice, worked like a charm, saved me from going to Metro PCS for some useless advice. The last time, this happened they told me that I needed to purchase an SD card, so I did, not sure how I resolved the issue then. Thanks again

Life is short, so take your phone to your Verizon store, hand your phone to a salesperson and sweetly say, "Help?" Was in and out of there in less than 15 minutes. Plus, that little cutie tried to teach me how to fix it, but they could tell nothing was registering in the old grey matter.
