How can I get my keyboard working correctly?

Keyboard not working correctly.

Hi everyone.

I have a slight issue with my keyboard while replying to text messages. When I try to reply to a text message the keyboard doesn't load up as normal when clicking into the "enter message" box. I have to double tap the box instead and sometimes this doesn't even work. If I try to type into any other section of the phone (internet/ social media for example) the box comes up first time no problem. It's only when I try replying to text messages it doesn't want to come up.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and have already tried clearing the cache and data with no success.

Welcome to Android Central! You cleared the cache/data of the Messaging app? It wouldn't hurt to clear the system cache partition as well: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5744

Have you tried another texting app? There are a bunch of popular ones in the play store.

Another keyboard app still had the same issues, but a new texting app seems to work proeprly.

So i guess there is an issue with my messaging app, is there a way to fix this? As I'm not really keen on the new app. I've already tried clearing the cache and data.

Have you tried uninstalling the original texting app and reinstalling? That often helps me with buggy apps.

Oh, if it's a stock app that's not in the play store, probably not.
