how can I get my selfie stick to work on my motorola droid ultra phone

i connected my selfie stick which hooks to my headset and it does not take pictures when I click on the botton

Welcome to Android Central! Do you mean that this stick has a plug that goes into the headphone jack? Open the Camera app, tap the settings icon, and look for a setting to make the Volume button act as shutter release--that's usually how these sticks work. Be aware, though, that different devices may have slightly different headphone jack configurations, and since that's how the stick is trying to send the command to take the picture (by sending a Volume Down or Volume Up command via the headphone jack), an incompatible configuration may make the stick useless with that phone.
