How can I get my touchscreen working again?

touchscreen not responsive

accidentally my phone got wet, i perform basic troubleshooting to get my phone to be dry, it work well but i noticed that my touchscreen is not responsive after my phone on automatic lock, i need to remove my battery first before the touchscreen will be responsive..need your help on this is it true that the touchscreen is the one that has been damaged or the battery itself..thank you
