I'm using Marshmallow - how can I get silent mode without do not disturb?

No matter what I found to stop sounds and vibrations, I couldn't get rid of this anoying vibrate for notifications. I finally discovered 360 Security app on Google Play and it has a menu (upper left menu) that will silence any and all notifications. The app is free and does a lot of cleaning of files. So much so, that I'm cutting back somewhat. I'm not sure of what cleaning it offers to do. But that's another story.
