Help - Lollipop killed my Nexus 7 (2012)

So I downloaded Lollipop when it became available for my Nexus 7 (2012) - it basically screwed my tablet - everything is so slow...it takes multiple tappings to even open an app - when an app finally opens (could take 30 seconds, could take 2 minutes) it might work for all of a minute before I get a "Not responding" message and then throws me out. Things that were working OK under Kit-Kat do not work with Lollipop - I am a bit technology challenged, but in reading some other places I did attempt to clear my cache - that had no bearing what so ever on the functionality - If I restore to factory settings will it go back to Kit-Kat or am I stuck forever with a tablet that is basically good for either a paperweight or frustrating the hell out of me.

If you factory reset, you'll clear all your data on your device and have a fresh install of Lollipop. If you're experiencing this issue, I highly recommend wiping it and starting fresh. I installed the OTA on mine and my device was super slow.. I wiped and started over and Lollipop has given my N7 a new life. I use it every day, it's pretty freakin quick!

Follow SNIFFS recommendation and then if you still have a problem, start cannibalizing apps. Removing the Facebook App is the difference between "yet another worthless piece of electronics" and back to what it was like when new... if not better. I removed both FB and Weatherbug. I am about to add WB back on to see what happens.

I experienced the same issue. Unfortunately doing a factory reset did nothing for me. It still has 5.0, will not go back to Kit Kat 4.4, and it is slow and many of apps just crash for no reason. I should attempt another factory reset can't hurt it I guess.

I am going to do another factory reset. Maybe I'll have the same luck you did the second time around.

Factory resetting it wont put it back to Kitkat, you have to flash the stock recovery image back onto it. Not an easy task if you've never done it before.

It requires the android SDK, some knowledge of the adb command and patience.

Android 5.0 is now your factory default, you could restore your device ten times, you'll still be running 5.0.

The only way to return to a previous OS is to flash it.

Yeah, factory reset didn't help me. Slow response. Chrome keeps crashing. I hear there is an update to Lollipop coming.

Been there...done that...MULTIPLE times...no help.

I've tried doing the same thing, reset to factory and it doesn't go back to kitkat. Now I'm faced with doing something I've never tried before and a bit worried. Tried already following one site on how to do a flash and SDK install, it was too complicated and not easy to follow. Any advice on how to do relatively easy?

Re: Help - Lollipop killed my Nexus 7 (2012)

Mine now just shows the coloured balls. Have just tried holding both off/on switch and volume after hours of exasperation. I now see the droid robot waiting for instructions. What instructions?!! I know nothing about a factory reset. So would you recommend a shop as this sounds as if it will be simple to anyone but me? Do I then lose everything I have paid for from the Store?
Thanks in advance.

If you can manage to flash 5.0.2 you will be happy. It rums as good as kitkat. Finally

I also noticed that 5.0.2 dramatically sped up the Nexus 7 2012..

5.0.2 did the trick on mine also. I was ready to flash it back to Kit Kat.

On mine 5.0.2 is as bad or worse. I WANT KITKAT

Re: Help - Lollipop killed my Nexus 7 (2012)

As I have mentioned in another thread I had AVG av ( paid for) on my 2012.
Uninstalled it and got Avast.
Immediately my N7 was back to normal.

I disabled chrome and mine runs a lot smoother
