How can I stop apps crashing? (and other issues)

I've got a Huawei Mate 20 Lite.
Two days ago, some of the apps (inc. Amazon apps, Huawei store, Photobooks, Podcast Player) crash as soon as I've tried opening them - I maybe get the opening screen for a second or so, then back to the homescreen.
I can open the Yahoo email and Outlook email apps, and am able to read the subject lines, but the email content won't load up.
Google search engine is also not working, although other Google apps are fine.
I've tried restarting the phone, clearing the cache, downloading another browser (Microsoft Edge and Huawei Browser both working fine) and reinstalling some of the apps through both Play Store and Huawei apps).
I've basically tried everything I've found online. Any other ideas about what I can do to sort this out?

Did you recently get a software update ? That's too many things crashing , might have to do a factory reset .

Are you closing apps when you're done with them (Back button) or are you just using the Home button (leaving them all running in the background)?

I tend to close everything at the end of a session but use the home button until then.

I'm up-to-date with all updates. Will a factory reset make me lose all phone numbers etc?

If you have everything backed up and sync they will come back

You'll lose your text messages though, unless you do a backup of them first, such as with the SMS Backup & Restore app.

Thank you for your advice. I backed everything up (great app, thanks for the recommendation) and did a factory reset. It's all working like a dream now.
