How can I stop my Samsung GS6 from lagging & freezing?

Samsung GS6 lags & freezes

At least 8 to 10 times per day my new GS6 will lag and freeze when changing screens or going between applications. I must leave it alone for 15 to 20 seconds until it catches up. Happening to my wife's new GS6 as well. Thoughts???

15-20 second lag absolutely should not be happening. My suggestion is to take the phones back from where you bought it from and ask for a repair/replacement.

If it's a new phone it could just be installing all your apps.

The best way to fix lag is the following

1. Reboot the device
2. Clean the cache
3. Get an app manager

There's know way I believe 2 phones in one house hold has the same issue not happen

I have the same problem with mine. Rediculous. I want to throw out against the wall every day. It lags so bad. Trying to multi-task and it takes 3-10 seconds for the apps to switch. They close on the background all the time. You can't listen to music and navigate at the same time, keeps closing.

Samsung said there was some memory issues but don't knowI if I can continue

Do you have battery saving mode turned on? I noticed that has a noticeable impact on performance.

I am experiencing the same issue. The lag is atrocious - may as be running MS-DOS on a 286.

Google Maps always bogs down the GS6 for sure.

I haven't been able to track down the cause of slow down at other times. Might be an issue with cellular radio or wi-fi hunting and background apps causing a lag as they try do their thing.

The last time I cleared a cache I lost a number of settings I had configured on the device. Not sure if anyone points this out. I didn't notice any improvement after clearing the cache.

I'm hoping the 5.1 update will alleviate the intermittant lag. This is my first time going "all Android" and I have mixed feelings about it - love the customization but the inconsistency with performance is getting tedious.

I had power saving on.

Turning power saving feature off improved performance and reduced the lag significantly but not completely.

Then I changed the default launcher from Samsung Touchwiz to Google Now. No lag now and I have pure android experience which I like better.

To change the launcher
go into Settings> Device > Applications > Default Applications > Home

When i just bought S6 had the same thing in a week - everything was lagging and freezing. But restore to factory settings solved the problem.
Now running 2nd mounth without lags

This is my current situation...me and my wife gs6 edge phones are both super lagging and not sure why

You can download different launchers, like Google Now, from the Playstore.

I prefer Nova Launcher, Google Now Launcher second.
