How can I stop the messaging app from suggesting swear words?

It keep suggesting vulgar language, the f-word, etc. I would never want to use any of those words, and I am offended to think that Google thinks I should! It would be much better if the three suggestions would be words I could use.

There must be a setting that cleans up its language.

Welcome to the forums. What phone do you have and which keyboard are you using. With Gboard, for example, go to settings - language & input - Gboard - text correction - block offensive words. The steps could be a bit different depending on your android version and personal keyboard.

I have a Moto X, and apparently the default SMS app is Messaging. It has no settings related to language.

The spelling and word suggestions are normally associated with the keyboard app.

Thanks for registering! Most Moto phones come with Gboard (Google keyboard) as default. The steps I posted before should work.

I tried that. "Block offensive words" is already selected. I turned it off & turned it on again, but don't have any confidence that it will work. Any other ideas?
