How can I transfer songs to an SD Card?

Transferring songs to SD Card.

Sorry if this is a common issue and tried Googling it but just couldn't find any answers, but I just got a new Note 4 and I previously had an iPhone 5. Before I made the switch, I was worried about transferring music over to my new Note 4 because I'm constantly listening to music and a buddy of mine had problems with his music on his S4. So I was on the fence on switching but did it anyways. So I put some of my music onto the phone and everything worked perfectly, all the songs I put on worked without any problems, so I decided to order an external card (Samsung Evo 64GB) to put all my music on. So when the card came in, I plugged it in my phone, formatted it right away to the phone then restarted my phone. I then started transferring music to the card. Once that was done, I started playing some songs and now some work and some say they can't be played? The songs that can't be played, my phone says this, "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file." I had some of the same songs on my phone before I got an external card that worked perfect but on the card gives me that "Sorry,....cannot be played". Also, the music that can't be played on my phone works fine on my computer(through iTunes) without any problems and never had any problems on my old iPhone 5, so what do I have to do to make these work on my external card? I also made sure that all my music was MP3 and converted any MP4's to MP3's. The phone can see the songs and shows the album artwork and everything, but just can't play the song. Any advice or anything to help me along would be perfect!

One more thing, when I transferred the music to my phone, I just did the drag and drop process if that makes it any difference.

Holy wall-O-text Batman!

What app are you using to playback the files? You actually didn't need to convert your mp4 (which are likely mpeg-4 LC-AAC files) files to mp3 as every music app I know of works with AAC files just fine. You should try copying the AAC files as-is over to the card instead of converting them to mp3s (what program did you use for that?). You may want to try scanning the card using a disk utility (either the one built into Windows or OS X) just to see if there is something wrong with it. You might also want to try transferring the songs over directly to the memory card using a card reader (either built into your PC or not) instead of your phone.

Yeah...sorry for writing a whole book...but I'm just using the preloaded music player that the phone came with, not the Google Player. Not a fan of steaming my music, just rather have it already loaded on my phone. But I converted my MP4's through iTunes. Also I'll try scanning it and plugging the card in directly to the computer to transfer music. Thanks!

All of my music is on a 64 gig sd card. I transferred it by plugging the phone into my computer and dragging and dropping. All of my files are standard mp3 files, with id3 tags. They play fine in the stock Samsung music player and even better using the Poweramp music player app. Some players are very finicky about ID 3 tags, if you come across a song that wont play that is an mp3 check the tag.

Google's Music app can play songs stored directly on your phone, it isn't a streaming only player. It actually started out as a local player only (i.e. playing songs stored on the phone/memory card), it was Google's way of releasing a standard music player. PowerAMP is also a good player but I stopped using it since I was getting Bluetooth stuttering issues with my S5 (running Android 5.0.0) that they didn't acknowledge or fix. Now I subscribe to Google Music All Access so I'm "stuck" using Google's app. Even then I download the playlists, albums, and songs I want using the app directly to my phone's SD card (I rarely use streaming).

Personally I would just copy your files over as-is, no need to convert them. Samsung's music app will work with your AAC files, Google's will, and so will PowerAMP. I don't know of an Android app that won't work with AAC files. The only AAC files they won't work with are the older ones purchased from the iTunes Store before 2006. They are wrapped in Apple's proprietary DRM and were encoded at a bitrate of 128kbps. 256kbps files downloaded from the iTunes Store don't have any DRM so they will work just fine, same with any audio CDs you ripped using iTunes to AAC.

That alone might fix your problem.

Go to www.airdroid.com on you laptop/pc. Download Airdroid from Google play. Read the qr code within the app. Voila, you get a mirror image on your laptop/pc. You can drag and drop to your phone or SD card. It's fast too. (via WiFi automatically)
