How can I turn off Wi-Fi Direct?

I have a 2016 Samsung Galaxy J7 with T-Mobile as my carrier. When I go to settings and click on Wi-Fi, it shows that my Wi-Fi is on, the next "heading" is Wi-Fi direct. Under this heading there is a spinning icon that looks like a circle however, it is not a full circle. The circle of this icon changes between blue and green. I use Wi-Fi at home 99.9% of the time. My connection status is always strong. I don't understand what Wi-Fi direct is doing or searching for. I have gone to settings and deleted the data and force stopped the application, and that only cut it off very briefly. How can I turn Wi-Fi direct off?
