How can I undo the Samsung software update?

Re: Undo samsung software update

On Tuesday morning I woke up to my galaxy S5 demanding I download and install the latest software update, I had just woken up so obliged and began the install - it took about 20-30 minutes.

The update has ruined my phone! :(
1. The user interface and theme is now horrible. The way notifications and notifications widgets are displayed is noisy and obtrusive. The theme for all my default apps such as Phone calls, SMS, etc. is bright white - this is painful to look at and navigate through.
2. The internet app has changed, the view and zoom level has increased and can't be fixed. The UI is also noisier and less user friendly.
3. More bloatware! (e.g. Papergarden).

I've searched heaps online but can't find anything regarding reverting to previous software versions, all the search results are about installing KitKat from Lollipop.

Can someone please point me in the right direction to undo this software update and return to normal? I'm prepared to route my phone to resolve this.

I know it may sound like I'm overreacting but I just hate my phone now, I've had 3 days to adjust and can't get over it >:(

OOOMMMGG!!! I am going through the SAME thing! I cannot STAND this update! It literally feels ruined! It feels like an entirely different phone now. It's completely drained of any type of color, and my color alerts for my Favorites is gone as well. It was one of the cool features I loved about this phone that I could leave my phone flipped over and I could see who was texting me because it was their color coming up.

I tried looking up ways to remove it too! I can't take it. Now you are not overreacting at all. Everything just feels very off about this update, and I just want it to go back to the way it was...

Okay this CANNOT be a coincidence! I already kept my screen brightness on the lowest possible setting and this update is making it hard to see things too, and it's hurting my eyes as well!

I too signed up to voice my concern. I just updated the newest version and am VERY disappointed! The speech-help keeps deleting words and putting their own in...Like "How" to "Got"...so I have to manually press the word "How" when it appears in the word category.....Please, provide updates and leave fonts, colors, etc. alone

I also signed up just to complain about how this is the worst upgrade!! I have an S6 edge it upgraded last night and it's awful!! The WHITE boxes on everything gotta go!! The font, the keyboard, the drop down, texting, all messed up!! Need a way to get rid of ASAP!!

Totally with everyone about the new update being horrible. It was hard to read the phone outside on a sunny day before, now it's not possible without shading it due to all the white. So many of the changes just make the phone less user friendly. Who ever approved this release needs to think about a career change. It would be nice if they could let us preview the update and then remove it if we would prefer to stay with the original. Hopefully they get enough complaints that it changes soon.

Re: Undo samsung software update

I'm another that signed up today for a fix of the latest software update.
Guess it's time for an iphone. My Samsung phone is now ruined.

HELP! I hate the new upgrade to my Note5!!! I'm a 63 yr. Old with no tech savvy. I thought lollipops were candy on a stick, and marshmallows were something you roasted in a campfire, but I can follow basic directions. 👍

Re: Undo samsung software update

This, happened to me too. My phone no longer has speed dial..i have no more camera filters. I need to revert back or wait for 7 months for my contract to expire.

I also signed up just to complain about this evil upgrade. My s6 edge was working fine, then demanded an update. 15 minutes later nothing worked anymore : I can't play web video in youtube, fb ; chrome hangs often ; alarm clock doesn't sound AND incoming call doesn't ring. WTF ? Today I had 30% battery and for some reasons my phone got very hot and burnt it down in over 10 minutes, I guest due to some hidden apps.

If it's a trick to get rid of s6 edge or earlier user, I must say it's very low.

Following this thread after my phone demanded an update to software 2 days ago! Please samsung is there any way to reverse it? I'm thinking factory reset will do the trick? Just have to get all my photos off before I do it

A Factory Data Reset will NOT revert you back to previous firmware. Only downloading and flashing the previous firmware for your model of Galaxy S5, CSC and Product codes, will do that. As per post #14 . However, a Factory Data Reset may clear up the issues that you are experiencing with your new firmware. Try wiping the cache partition first, before a Factory Data Restting. Hi guys, i got the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy s6 edge when i updated the software last night, it completely destroyed my phone, the same problems i too faced whatever the users above posted here. i have searched all over the internet as i wanted to restore back my phone badly. The below link which i am posting here is really a blessing in disguise, which made me to get back my phone to it's previous stage like before updating the software last night. i recovered every bit of my phone. I personally Thank the guy on this public platform who has uploaded the video how to restore the phone back .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwqBaQkYbLY

The video shows it as for Galaxy S7 & S7 edge, but it works fine with all other models too, mine is S6 edge and it worked perfect for me.

So please go through the above link and restore your phones back.

Thanking all the people who are in the forums & Youtube and all other social media who can help when others , when needed & their requirements to be sorted out

@jkgogineni : I read comments on this vid and he said it does not downgrade to 6.0.1 ? Why does it work for you ?? I tried it myself and saw that current version and ini version has the same name so I guest it won't downgrade.

So the only method is using Odin. I download firmware from sammobile, but the zip files corrrups every time. Do you know where to download safe files ?

Hi - I have a Samsung S6, got the damn update last night, and I hate it. I downloaded Smart Switch on my PC, followed the process, but when I keyed in the Model number and hit Search, I got the following message:
"Please check the model name and enter it"
I repeated this 6 times - no luck.
Do you have any suggestions please???

wow. not a coincidence. i felt the same thing and it's almost like windows 7 to 8 jump. a friend is just on the verge of buying edge 7 so i hope he can listen to me and all of the complaints here.

Honestly, the new update has made the phone faster and more battery efficient. It's always the same every year anyway. People just aren't comfortable with change.

Hey guys,
I made this account to join on the thread because i have just had the "update" to 7.0 aswell myself. I am hugely disappointed and I hope android will come with some support on their screw-up. I hope they will come with an easy way to undo their update or come with an update similar to 6.0.

You may be confused as the Samsung Galaxy S5 has never received Android 7.0, Nougat. ;)
