How do you change the tone of the touch tone?

Have to rename the twtouch.ogg file in system/media/ui... Basically, anything in an ogg format can be placed there.

Must be rooted.

No. Very easy. Takes all of about 10 seconds if you are rooted. Rooting takes all of 5 minutes including (download time) to do.
