Android Central Question

The Galexyphones and such, one can not change or remove battery!

The recommended C rate is around 0.8 for best longevity, and accelerated wear really kicks in over 1C. My V60 charger is capable of 1C max, which I don't use. Everyone was so excited about the Samsung (funny side note, my autocorrect tried to replace Samsung with "damaging") 45W charger for the N10+ but that is just over 2C at full speed. Yes, the C rate is based on battery size, but manufacturers are already cutting it too close for comfort. The screenshot of that relevant info is at https://batteryuniversity.com/index.php/learn/article/ultra_fast_chargersView attachment 322642
0.8 is not the best longevity for every size battery and fast charging does not charge at a high rate throughout the entire cycle. We go round and round on this battery longevity thing and most of it is as bunch of old myths. Fact is fast charging is not an issue for battery longevity as long as there isn't any excessive heat while charging. Even if it made a slight difference most people wouldn't care because there are times when they need a quick bump.

Here's an article about old phones with removable batteries with no mention of the LG V20
https://www.androidcentral.com/best-android-phone-removable-battery

My family (4 of us) all have LG V20 phones. I have 3 extra batteries. When we go on vacation I have extra batteries and can go from 30% (I try not to use my phones down to 0%) back to 100% by switching out batteries. Our phones are showing age and the latest OS is Android 8.0 (official). I will look into upgrading to some flavor of the newer OS by custom ROM. These phones are what we need. I don't have an income that let's us upgrade to newer phones every few years and these newer phones use features I may not use except for the camera.

Hi, welcome AC!

Probably that article they were looking at certain price point for money and little more current devices .

While many people want a removable battery the general market and what sold well indicated more people want a thin device that feels premium while offering the largest screen and best battery life possible. To a lesser extent people also wanted water resistance and wireless charging.

Sacrafice the removable battery and gain everything else. Easier to seal the phone, make it thinner, cram more battery into it, built in wireless charging, etc.

All that and they probably weren't selling a boatload of extra batteries because not everyone bought them.

What year is this, 2014? Hard to believe there's still a debate about this.:p

No it's not 2014, it is the end of 2020 AND I GREATLY MISS THE REMOVABLE BATTERY. In my opinion there is no, absolutely no benefit at all from any user, when batteries are sealed in. It is a great shame that users so widely accept that. i am definately not into "green" or ecology etc. but i simply refuse to understand that modern computers for the pocket (smartphones) are deliberately made as a throw-away-article! We also would never adopt the idea of throwing away our PC every 2 years.
I still use my LG G4 today as a dayly driver (i bought it in early 2016) and i do make use of the removable battery alot.
also i am quite convincet that smartphones have gotten worse ever since.
Missing of removable battery, missing of headphone jack, missing of infrared port (blaster), cheap multi-lense camera setups instead of one good lense...
phones are becoming boring and alike.
i greatly would apreciate if manufacturers would return to removable batteries as soon as possible and i am sure i am not the only one.
power-banks are stupid and inefficient! it is so much easier carrying one or two spare batteries around. i do that all the time.
why on earth did most custemers start accepting sealed batteries? it simply is horrible! full stop!

To put it simply our phones would either be a lot thicker than they are now or have significantly smaller battery capacities. Things like water resistance and wireless charging are also much easier to implement when the device is sealed.

I carried spare batteries for my S3/Note 2/3 but as soon as rapid charge came to the N4 I never needed a spare battery. Personally don't find it hard to replace a phone battery either, but again I've been tearing apart and repairing electronics since elementary school.
