How do I add a new notification sound?

How can I add to message notification sounds? I don't like any on the phone so would like to personalise my message alert tone.

An mp3 (not sure if there's a limit as to length) will do. Just put it into the Notifications folder in your local drive storage. I use the old default messaging sound from my Palm Pre for a little bit of nostalgia.

When I'm not building my own notifications and ringtones, I use an app called Zedge. There are a zillion sounds there.
