How do I add multiple phone numbers to one contact on the Samsung Note 5

I've never used a Samsung before and can't work out how to add more than one phone number to a single contact

Welcome to Android Central! Open Contacts, select the contact you want to edit, tap the Edit button, and then look at the Phone fields. Look for a "+" button to add more fields.

I have a Samsung A5 on Android 5.0.2. There is no "+" field available when editing contacts, how can I add other fields?
Thanks

has to be a +, take a screen shot

Are you in the edit screen? Sounds silly, whenever I open a contact to update it I pause because there's nothing there to let me add or change info. Then I remember you have to go down one more layer to edit. I've used Android since Donut and I still stumble around this.

Its fairly simple. Just go into contacts and click on the one you want. Next, click on edit in the upper right hand corner.

Next, goto the phone number section and click on the plus symbol.

Enter the extra number you want in the field and save it.

Wahlah! You're done and have multiple numbers for that contact.

Pertaining to multiple numbers for one contact:
I used to be able (on the S4) to give each additional number a custom name, as opposed to the preset choices such as work, home, mobile etc. On S6, I can choose "create custom type" and add a name, but when I "Save", it goes back to showing only "other".
It will then only show up on the screen if a call is made with that number--it does not show up next to the number in the Contacts list. It continues to only display "other". Am I missing something?

Click on other then you can name it what ever you want to.

Sorry i didn't see where you were having trouble at first. I have not had that trouble on my Note 5.

I have the same problem. Added a few extra contacts from the one business, however successful with adding 4 names of work colleagues the last one will not change from 'mobile'

Tried attaching a pic but with no luck.

On my Verizon Note 5 this is the Add Contact page where you can enter more than one phone number and email address by clicking the "+" sign. If I open a contact I already have and click on "Edit" I get the same options via the "+" signs.

My screen doesn't have all of those features. When I edit a contact, all I see (under the "CANCEL SAVE" banner is the phrase "SIM Card", then the contact name, then the phone number. That's it. There are no plusses, no email line, no group line, no MORE option, nothing. How do I coax my Galaxy into giving me the controls that you have?

Re: There's no plus there

Clicking EDIT doesn't give me such a useful interface. Here's my screenshot, can you see why some of us are struggling?

Who is your carrier? Each carrier gets to tweak the Android OS before releasing it and thus not all carriers have the same features enabled.

You can't add multiple numbers to a contact you save saved to your Sim card, the contact has to be saved to your device. I've been playing with my phone for 2 days trying to get it to work also XD that's the only solution I've found.

This is correct. I just changed my contact saving mode to `Google Gmail' instead of SIM card and it worked!!!
