how do i block contacts from calling and texting on the motorola droid turbo?

When I try to block contacts on my Motorola droid turbo I cannot find anything of the sort. On previous android phones the ability has been in settings with easy to find access. But now I am unable to prevent calls and texts from reaching me. Please Help

There is no way to do so with the stock turbo software. I believe that there are third party apps that can do this, though, on the play store.

What I do for calls is to go into people, create a "spam contact", then add the numbers that I want to "block" into this contact. Then, with the contact open, tap the menu control top right, and either set ringtone to none and/or set "all calls to voicemail".

You can do it on the Verizon website. I did it myself with my daughters phone. It's somewhere on the left when you're on your account page. You can block up to 5 numbers for free I think. But the block only lasts 90 days. You can just go back in and do it again.

Family Base costs $5 a month. You can block up to 20 numbers indefinitely once enabled.

I use a free workaround solution on my turbo and nexus 6. I created a contact called 'rejected', but can use any name you choose. You can manually enter numbers of update the contact from received calls. Once you create the contact and are in edit mode for the contact, hit the 3 dots menu button and an option will appear called "All calls to voicemail". Select that option and they will be dumped into your VM without ringing your phone.

Does anyone have a specific recommended application from the Play store for this purpose; calls and text? I certainly could (and normally would) go through and test multiple applications, but if someone has already gone through this and has an application that they would enthusiastically recommend, then that would certainly be preferable (and very much appreciated). This is for my girlfriend's phone which is not on Verizon (Straight Talk, and they don't have a blocking service based on a message board I recently visited). She has an ex that sends her the most heinous text messages.

This is what I do, as well. My contact is named "Scumbags," though.

Of course, "Michelle from account services," and her pals trying to give me free crusies and such, always seem to have a new number, so it's a constant challenge that doesn't work anywhere near as well as it should. So much for the Do Not Call Registry, I guess.

I use true caller and it has the ability to block calls too. It is also cool because even calls that come in from numbers not in my contacts list usually come in with caller id name and number. I really like it.

I also have a "Junk Calls" contact that is set to go straight to voicemail for recurring unwanted callers. As for texts, I go back and forth with Chomp and Textra apps. They both have "Blacklist" options to block text messages. I've used both of these for years, and they have work flawlessly for me.

I don't know about calls, but I have blocked people from texting me by long pressing on the text conversation and tapping on the the block symbol. (The circle with the slash on the upper right) It doesn't truly block texts, but it archives the conversation and blocks being notified when the selected person texts. Out of sight, out of mind. They can have fun sending messages I won't know about until I choose to look at them.
