How do I change the default stock Calendar "event color?"

When you go to add a new event in the stock calendar the first selection shows your calendar that is tied to your Google account. There is a color palette setting where you can click on it and change the color of your event that you are about to make, the default is some purplish blue, is there a way to change the color to something else by default so I don't have to do it every time I add a new event? I can't find the setting anywhere and it's really annoying.

Yes!!! go here in web https://www.google.com/calendar/render?tab=cc

on the left side under "My Calender" your calender will be listed.

if you hover over, you will see a dropdown like menu appear. click on it and change the color.

Let the calender app sync, by the way you can force a calender sync too.

That works, but there's an easier way. Open Calendar, tap menu and then Settings, then tap your Google account email address. You'll see a list of all of your calendars with a color box to the left of each. Tap the color box, then choose your new color!

I don't have any of these settings on my tablet, I've already gone through all this before I even posted thinking that's how you did it, there is no option to this.

Works great for Google calendars, but the palette doesn't pop up for me with Exchange calendars. Any idea why not?

It should be there. To be clear, you are using a Nexus 7 with Google Calendar, correct? I ask this just in case you happen to be using some other device which has a stock calendar that is slightly different from the official Google Calendar app (which is the case for my Razr Maxx).

Can you post a screenshot of what shows up when you open Calendar, tap menu, tap Settings, then tap your Google account's email address? This is what mine looks like:

Mine also does the same for exchange calendars, I can change the colors for google calendars, but not for exchange calendars.

I'm on a Nexus 5 with 4.4.2
