One of the apps on my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket stopping functioning properly, and i want to uninstall it. Eac time I try, I see 2 buttons, [OPEN] and [DEACTIVATE]. When I click to deactivate, I get a popup stating, "This app is an administrator and must be deactivated before uninstalling."

Soooooo, how do I deactivate the app in Jellybean. 4.1.2?

It should be under Settings, App Manager, "ALL" tab, going to the desired app and selecting the "Disable" or "Deactivate" option (sometimes it'll first ask to uninstall updates, but after that, you can disable or freeze an app). I've never seen the administrator message before, I'm not sure if that'll pop up when you try to disable system-critical apps or, in the worst case, it's a really nasty, virus-like app going rogue.

Thanks. I tried as you suggested, but everything was grayed out, so I wasn't able to do anything.

By accident, I figured out what to do. I went to TASK MANAGER, selected the DOWNLOADED tab, found the app and clicked the UNINSTALL button, and clicked OK whenasked if I wanted to uninstall. That took me to a page statin that it was unable to uninstall: device is an administrator, so I clicked the button "Manage Device Administrators". I then unchecked the box next to the app and then uninstalled it .
