Am sure you know the situation:

When holding the tablet in book orientation with one hand, the thumb naturally rests near the edge where left side of Home button....any momentary pressure, causes S Finder to open and overlays your previous page.

This is especially problematic since i often read in public or demonstrate or discuss material using my 2014 tablet and this disrupts the discussion.

Yes, i have thought about orienting the tablet in such a way that Home is on left side as i hold with my right hand the opposite edge in book orientation or in landscape mode where my right hand is not near an accidental press of the button left of Home.

I would prefer disabling S Finder as i have no use for any of the S Utilities.

Have tried developer mode, advanced options but cant seem to be able to turn S Finder off or prevent it from launching in the middle of a talk.

I don't have my Note 10.1 with me so I don't know if you could disable/freeze S-Finder. Not sure what would happen when you long-press the menu button if you can, though...

Or, if you root, you can 'disable' the soft buttons and have software ones instead (which would, in turn, take up screen real estate unless your app is running in 'Immersive Mode'.

I have never rooted my phone or flashed custom roms onto my devices but if you root your device you can just delete s voice and etc

Appreciate the replies, wish there was a non-root way to avoid this, ie. User Configurable method to not launch S Finder accidentally.

Did you try to freeze/disable the app? In mine it shows 'Uninstall Updates', and that usually is the first step before letting you disable it. And you wouldn't need root for this.

I was playing with this for a while (yesterday), seems there is no way to disable it or uninstall updates or remove its access from system at this time without root...

You cant disable s-finder without root. But there is a solution to it, but much hassle and not practical.
At accessibility, interaction control and here you can choose area "to control". You can choose using power button to enable/disable interactive control, since all capacitive buttons wont work and need to disable using power button.
After that it will disable all capacity buttons, incl home button and use soft buttons app for control. (ex button savior)

Just try it out and it dont need root for it.

I really, really, really hate that Samsung designed this tablet with fixed buttons in the bezel. I'll probably be rooting soon enough in order to find a solution to both this and the Kit Kat issue with writing to SD. However, I've found that this case works really well if you aren't concerned about adding a little bulk.

I find the tablet much more comfortable to hold in this case: it's got a "grippy" feel, it provides a comfortable rounded edge to hold, and it makes it much easier to avoid the buttons. It should also do a nice job of protecting the edges and corners from impacts.
