Latest YouTube update autostart youtube on boot up on S5

Hi all.

I noticed recently there was a youtube update. I'm seeing whenever I reboot or turn on my phone that the youtube app automatically starts up. It shows on my active apps widget. But it does not physically start up in a window though. If I go to the running apps screen in the application manager, it says that youtube is running the offlinefiletransfer service.

Is there anyway to disable this? Or will this come in another update a fix? Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Thanks.

You have just learned why I personally never let apps Auto Update.

I wait to see what damage is caused by the new releases.

And, if it was working for you before, why mess with it now?

It might also have to do with your recent app usage patterns. If you were using YouTube recently, the system might be opening it automatically, as a sort of anticipatory move.

I have been having the exact same issue. It started about a month or so ago and everytime I reboot the YouTube app launches itself and stays launched until forced closed. So far nothing I have tried is stopped it if anybody has any knowledge or useful advice please let us know.

I have the same issue. Doesn't open the app it is just running in the background. None of my apps are set to auto update either AZgl1500. Most people probably wouldn't even notice this or care, but I do. I am sure it is a flaw in youtube and will be fixed in another update. Mine has went through 3 updates and didn't fix it yet though. Just hoping they get it soon. You could disable the app but when you wanted to actually use youtube you would have to go back in and enable it which would suck. Lucky enough it doesn't slow my ohone down or anything just annoying. And at least it doesn't come back after to stop it. Unless you reboot. Steve i don't know what kind of phone you have but if it's a galaxy s3, s4 then hold down home button then click task manager snd stop it. If galaxy s5 hold down the left screen soft key and do the same as above in s3 or s4.if any other phone most have a task manager built into the phone i just wouldn't know where to tell you to go because i have only ever owned galaxy other than a samsung charge back in the day and it even had a built in task manager.

Try uninstalling it. It won't remove the app, but it will return it to the initial state before the upgrade.
I did that to mine and won't even consider reinstalling updates.

YouTube has become terribly intrusive on all devices, computer and phone. It has become a big problem to stop YouTube videos from autostarting.

I have noticed this irritating behaviour from YouTube as well. My suspicion is that it is deliberate, not a program error since aggressive auto-starting seems quite common with Android apps (I really hate this aspect of Android). I tried installing the factory version but it doesn't seem to have stopped this behaviour. In my observation force killing YouTube does nothing, it just restarts immediately. Greenifying gets rid of it for a while. Switching off the internet may help.
