How do I force shut down my Android phone?

[Android Central Question]

I have a Samsung E5 with a broken screen, it's all black and I cannot use it but the phone is actually still working. I want to force shut down the phone because if the alarm goes off or if the phone vibrates from notification, I can't do anything with it. All the instructions only tell me to hold Volumn down + Power button to force restart it. I want to shut it down completely. Is there any other way?
