How do I format a Kingston 32GB microSD card for my alcatel pop& tablet?

I need it for extra storage space internally for games etc...Staples sent me to this site and said I need to Format it on a computer first, then I can use it in the Tablet. They said that this site had the details I would need. The first card when inserted into the tablet and the 'format card' option was chosen, the card malfunctioned. That is why they sent me here with the new card. Any help would be appreciated.
