How do I get apps on to my sd card

As many phones do, my A5 (2016) comes with a pathetic 16GB. This is the same as my old Windows Phone but there was no problem in that case because the large majority of apps I downloaded worked perfectly happily from the sd card.

Now I had read that Samsung/Android had finally caught up and apps could likewise work from the sd card.

But this is not the case ... as far as I can make out "Move to SD Card" is permanently greyed out and unusable. Not even apps I have downloaded can be moved.

Again am I missing something, or is this further indication that I am going back in time leaving Windows? I love the phone but the software doesn't seem up to the job. Please help.

Now found one or two apps that can be transferred.

Biggest irony is BBC iPlayer. You can put that on your sd card BUT the programmes you download go into Device memory!

The phone is brilliant as a piece of hardware. The software is so messed about by "controlling interests" it ends up sadly disappointing.
