Android Central Question

I have a BBA100-2 (Blackberry DTEK 60) with Android Version 6.0.1.

Calls, SMS, etc from contacts in my Google account show their details when they call or message me. But the details from users in my work account in a Global Address List does not show. I shouldn't have to copy everyone in my GAL to my Gmail address book.

Also, I cannot send an SMS to someone in the GAL by searching for them in Messenger. Searching for them does not work. I have to search for them in my Contacts, then click the SMS icon.

I have no use for GAL but from my understanding it would depend on how your company implemented GAL in order to have this working with your Android. GAL use is sort of a double edged sword wherein in exchange for security it's less easy to access from mobile devices. iPhones can only do contact queries inside the email app as well AFAIK, no idea if they changed that.

If your company uses Exchange for GAL and it's able to sync to your own Outlook on PC, then you can use a PC program to sync the contacts to your phone. No idea for BB though. Samsung has SmartSwitch for PC with a big sync to Outlook button.

If your GAL is able to interact with Exchange, it may also be possible to just add the exchange account onto the phone so the contacts will sync through that to your phone.

I'm not sure if it works for SMS, but I DO know that my phone will show me GAL results on incoming phone calls. I have a Pixel 2 XL connected to work using Android At Work or Android For Work - https://www.android.com/enterprise/employees/

Your employer would need to participate in this program for it to work. There is also a minimum OS level supported, I would imagine Marshmallow (6.0) would be on the verge of losing support in the next year or so, but that could also be up to the business.
