How to get music controls on nexus 6p google music app when on locked

How can I get the option to skip through a song manually on my nexus 6p using the default Google music app on the lock screen. I can only skip forward or go back songs completely.

Welcome to Android Central! The Google Play Music lockscreen notification can only skip tracks. In order to manually jump to a different part of the track, you have to open the actual app to the Now Playing screen, and tap the track's progress bar.

You used to be able to just hold the skip or back button down, and it would bring up a slider for seeking within the song. Hmm they must have got rid of that feature on the lock screen.

I fail to see a purpose in removing features that would make life so convenient, especially for those of us who subscribe to Google music
