How do I get Netflix apk off my Android phone and onto my Tablet?

You could just download it to your tab without bothering with your phone...

When I download it directly on the Tab and try to open it, I get the error "Cannot open file." I have settings to allow unknown sources.

You may need a file manager to install it, try downloading Astro FM from the market, and the look in downloads, tap, and the installer will come up.
