Not sure what you are asking here.

If you want to get your photos off the phone's SD card onto your computer, you can put the SD card into a card reader attached to your computer and use the computer's file browser (Mac Finder or Windows File Explorer) to copy the files to your computer.

If you are looking to attach a card reader to your phone to add photos to the phone, most phones do not support this.

I've yet to find an Android phone that doesn't support that. Every phone I've owned or tried to connect external storage to has worked.

Doesn't it depend on if the device supports OTG? I would guess that most current phones do support OTG, but older devices might not (and the OP didn't specify which phone they have).
