AC Question

Every time i put my phone on home screen i keep getting ads on my screen and cant get rid of them they are doing my head in

Can you post a screenshot? I've never heard of ads showing up on any Android home screen, except when you've got adware or malware installed.

I've seen that happen with my daughter's S5. You've probably installed an app that shows ads. Many apps will do that. It's not necessarily malicious. It is how many app developers support themselves.

Putting ads on the home screen is way too intrusive IMO. I would consider that to be malicious.

I agree. That's why I'm leery about apps. I have to check my daughter's phone regularly, because she likes to download games.

That is one thing I liked about iOS. Apple doesn't give that level of access. At least not automatically.

Is there a way to sort the app drawer by install date? That would help a lot of people find their culprits.

It isn't always immediately after installing. Can be fine for months or longer, then gets an update or updates it's internal ad server.

Paid apps don't rely on ads and less of an issue.

Run MalwareBytes regularly.

Did anyone find an answer about the pop ups on the s8?
I added two screen shots of the pop ups I keep getting. Every time I unlock my phone I get the full page and occasionally just a drop down or band across screen when texting, etc...
Desperate for help.
Thanks Shell

I am getting ads too. They are full page and pop up usually when going app to app, e.g. email to text or phone. Always come up when unlocking phone and going to what ever app I intended to use. Sometimes pop up while dialing a phone number. Some are the ones that play music and you can't shut down until they counter runs down. I can't use my phone they way it is intended. A message popped up on my home screen that asked if I wanted to "discontinue" the ads. I said yes and haven't seen one since BUT the other ads have gotten more frequent and invasive. These are like the ads that pop up in free games like solitaire unless you get the paid ad free version. Is this what it's is going to be like without regulation?

If you press your Recents button on the navigation bar while the ad is playing, you can long press the icon in the top left of that window. It will identify the offending app. You can then uninstall it. FLV Player did this to me about once a day. I finally found this solution in a thread on this forum and it worked.

I can't do that, as the Recent button isn't available, cause the ads are there before I've logged in !!

At one time I've had the malicious app annoying critters pop ups. Turns out it was a music downloader app I'd installed. The wife has got it from games she downloads and then clicks on something she shouldn't. More malicious than popups are file spying apps..Yikes! As others have said, you'll need to uninstall the culprit app if you can find it. System reinstall as a last resort.

I managed to stop the annoying ads that popped on my home screen. I thought was came from malicious software and I tried to scan by several ads remover, fixer, antivirus but all useless. FINALLY, found we can stop it by opt out the Google ads settings. I did it by trying click here and there then did it. Probably some professional can it well. I attach screenshots for you all to check it out. :) cheers!

Sorry, I consider this malicious malware. Advertising is necessary but not when you launch your phone.
