How do I get rid of voice mail icon?

Hello!

I recently changed network provider to Three. I received a voice mail notification asking me to set up voice mail, which I did following the steps suggested. I now can't get rid of the voice mail notification icon!

I've called Three several times in the last two days to deactivate my voice mail (hoping this would solve the problem) and they guaranteed that my voice mail is deactivated. I've restarted my phone five times.

Three suggested that I follow these steps: main apps menu / phone / menu dots / settings / voice mail / turn off from there. However, there's no option to turn anything off!

I tried touching the icon, holding down until the info button appears and selecting that but there's no force quit option from there.

I have no voice mail app. If I call my voice mail and listen to the steps, there's no option to exit or quit.

Any suggestions or advice on how to get rid of the icon would be most appreciated - it's doing my head in!

Thanks!

Hi,

when you dial 333 for the voicemail does it tell you that you have any messages? if you do try deleting them. Or go into your messaging app and delete the message that says "3 voicemail" or something like that. Whenever you get a voicemail you will receive a message advising you of this, maybe the message is still showing as unread?

Unfortunately the Voice Mail notification is handled by your carrier, not your phone... I'd give it a couple days to see if it goes away on it's own.

If you call the voicemail, is it set up? Does it tell you that you have a new message?

Clearing data in your phone app will work but after you reboot the phone the icon will come back. That's an annoying bug in some phones.
