Disabling the Facebook notification bubble on the homescreen

Hello and thank you for reading my post.

I just got the Galaxy S5 and cannot figure out how to suppress the red Facebook indicator bubble (this probably has a name) that shows on the Facebook app icon on the home screen when there has been some sort of activity. Under Application Manager, Facebook...the Show Notification box is unchecked.

I've also tried Settings, Sounds and notifications, Facebook and turned On the Block all notifications.

Still getting the bubble! It's driving me nuts.

I appreciate any guidance, thank you!

Re: Disabling the Facebook notification bubble on the homescreen

Sadly, you can't. Those are notification badges built into the launcher (TouchWiz). You can get rid of them by installing a 3rd party launcher like Action Launcher, Nova, or Themer (I personally use the latter, but that's not everyone's cup of tea). These support app counter badges, but allows you to either enable or disable them.

I haven't tried it, but if you disable notifications completely from Facebook's settings (not from the App Info page which only restricts notification bar messages, but directly from the app) that might also disable the badge as the app shouldn't be polling for new notifications.

Why would this drive you nuts?? Have you got OCD or something and always want it to be a clean icon? :) Personally i find the badge counts very useful indeed as it reminds me to check FB or whatever application that uses them.

Thank you! I will try that directly on Facebook or otherwise check out the 3rd party options. I appreciate your response.
