How do i install or update my OS?

I think i have 6.0. i have installed system updates on my phone, but th "about phone" info never changes. How do i update it to 8.0 ? Is that possible? Can i do the same update with my tablet, its a Samsung Note4? im not sure of the OS, it was a gift?

Who ever your carrier is has to push you the update. If you are not sure, in the settings, you can see if an update is available to a new os or you missed it somehow. What you did receive were 6.0 patches and updates.
