How do I keep any screen from fading to dark during an ongoing call requiring numbers for answers?

I have a Verizon SAMSUNG -SM-J327V. When I use the dial pad during a call requiring #'s for answers from anyone, the screen fades to black in 3-4 seconds. I have to continuously tap the screen anywhere to keep it lit up. How do I change that setting to keep the dial pad lit up.

Sounds like you need to change the screen timeout. Settings>Display & Gestures>Screen Timeout...

Also make sure your proximity sensor at the top of the phone isn't dirty.
