How do I keep Google play music from being the default music player?

Since the sprint update, my default music player seems to be Google play music.. It used to be the HTC music player and I would like it to remain that way. I tried disabling Google play music in settings but then my music doesn't come up in Google now when I search. Thanks for any help!

Instead of disabling Play Music, see if you can Clear Defaults when you select Play Music from Settings/Apps/All.
