How do I keep the screen from turning off when I'm watching a movie?

I know I'm missing a setting somewhere but can't figure out how to keep screen from turning off when I'm watching a video. I can set the screen settings to stay on for up to 10 minutes, but no longer. Isn't there a way to fix this so that I can watch a movie without having to touch the screen every 10 mins to prevent it from turning off?

The native video player should keep the screen on as long as the movie is playing. are you watching movies from another source?

In this instance I was watching live TV in the Xfinity TV app. But it was also dog it when watching YouTube videos.

You must have the option that stops video from playing when your eyes leave the screen. You must turn that option off.

Settings,, controls,,, smart screen,,, turn that option off

My smart screen isn't on, nd while watching a fb video my screen turn off in the 15secs I have it sat on, it just now started doing this yesterday

Mine started doing this today also but only after I updated the Facebook app. I'm thinking it has something to do with the update. Did you update your FB app? Have you gotten yours to work?

Mine is doing this too, only within Facebook. I have to keep my finger pressed on the screen to keep the screen on so I can keep watching the video. Super annoying. I'm on the note 5 btw.

Hi Mariah and TeniciaS - what I did to fix it was downgraded my FB version. Looks like there was an update released yesterday (48.0.0.28.137) but I don't know if it resolves the problem as it doesn't say what was included in the update. You can try updating to the latest version and see if it was fixed or downgrade to an older version.

Hi guys, I signed up just to post this as I'm sure someone else will have this issue.

My fix was to restart the phone. Seems to be working as normal now.

Same here Troypants, been having this problem for about a week now and have just been putting up with it. But it eventually done my head in and after about 10mins of searching I've found your comment with what appears to be the solution - Restart the device and it should be fine Catchya kents!
