How do I know when they ship it?

I just ordered a nexus from the play store, how do I know when they ship it and does it usually take 4 days?

You will get a e-mail telling you it had shipped which includes a tracking number from UPS also mine did arrive in three days

Yeah, Google will send you an email telling you it has been shipped. I ordered mine on a Friday morning, it shipped out later that day and I received it on Tuesday.

It is really fast. They should ship within 24 hours and get to you in a few days.
I am in Los Angeles and it took 2 days..

Google should enable super shipment tracking so that you could get a live Google Maps Streetview of your phone as it makes it's way to your house.

I confirm that Google is quick with the shipping of these phones. I placed my order late last Sunday night, received a shipping confirmation at around 1 AM on Tuesday and received the phone Wednesday afternoon.

The orders are shipped via UPS 2nd Day Air, so you will get it by the end of the second business day after it ships.
