How do I listen to music on my Note 4 through earphones?

When I put the earphones into my Note 4 they don't seem to work at all. Is there some setting I should change on the phone?

When u plug I'm your earphones does it alert you that you plugged them in, you most likely have faulty earphones

No, nothing happens and I can hear the music as though the earphones or headphone are not even connected

Are you using headphones that were designed for iPhone or other Apple products? Those tend to not work properly on anything that isn't from Apple.

Use the original note 4 earphones.

No, I have tried Sony and Kogan noise-cancelling headphones and ordinary earphones (not the ones from the box)
