How do i lock 2018 vw tiguan with engine running?

Note: It is illegal in most states in the US to leave the engine running with the keys in the ignition.

No it's not.....you can do that with smart keys. Most won't let you lock if you leave the keys inside.

Beat me to it! I can run the engine with the doors locked on my 2011 Subaru by using the remote start fob. As soon as ANY door is opened the engine shuts off.

They all seem to be different. Some of them have a time limit on how long the engine will run if started outside the vehicle. Mine does not shut off as soon as open the door. If you press the ignition button within a few minutes it will shut off.

Yeah safety feature so don't lock yourself out with keys in car , but now they have thumb print wireless entry whole bunch of stuff that varies from each manufacturer

On the stang it won't lock the doors until I drive few feet and automatically locks is another feature

Mine uses lip prints on the glass. I always have to clean the lipstick off my window after my wife borrows my car.

This is my second vehicle with factory remote start. Both had 15 minute run times per start, up to 2 starts (actually, I might have been able to adjust the time on the first one). The first one, a 2006 Grand Prix, allowed the doors to open without shutting off the engine, but if you didn't put the key in the ignition and turn it to RUN before pressing on the brake to move the shifter it shut down the engine.
