How do I make the gmail app the default?

The only way the Samsung app would be default is if u sign into it with your email & password.

I actually want the opposite. In order to get push notifications from gmail you have to use their app, but the stock email app from samsung has the badass preview pane. This app only gets the email if it checks on a certain interval (or manual refresh) and is not push which disappoints me to no end! Also when I get the email notification it opens in gmail, not the samsung mail app.

Have u tried disabling your Gmail from syncing & turning off notifications from within the app?

And OP have you tried removing your gmail account from Samsung's app?
