How do I make this tablet LOUDER?

Never paid much attention to the sound until I tried to watch a movie, the sound blows. I mean why would anyone watch a movie on their tablet. I have turned up ALL in the settings. I noticed it has a ear phone jack, could I get one of those mini cube speakers and use that in the jack, would that make a difference? thanks

Yeah, you can definitely plug speakers into the Nexus 7 to boost the sound.

Go to Google Play store and download Speaker Boost. It is free. Also mske sure the movie's volume setting up all the way.

I really wouldn't recommend using a preamp booster app, as the N7 speakers have been known to easily blow out. The speakers aren't one of the strong points of the N7, though that's true of all tablets. In my opinion, they (or any tablet or phone speakers) really aren't intended for serious listening, but more for hearing notifications, game sounds, scanner radio apps, or basic YouTube or internet videos.

For serious listening of movies and music, use either a wired headset, a Bluetooth stereo headset, a wired, self-powered speaker system (what you were thinking), or a Bluetooth speaker system. I personally think that a headset is best with the intimate environment of the 7" screen of the N7.

I agree you should only use the speakers on the nexus for certain things. Some games like mass effect recommend you when it starts to use a headphones with them it sounds awesome. Id get some Bluetooth speakers cause the nexus speaker isn't great...

I originally thought the volume was too soft as well, I would take it all the way to 15, then I realized that if you continue to hold the volume up rocker down it starts over from 15-30 on the volume settings. Seems very loud then, to loud, and I can see why the little speaker could blow. I also try to cup my hand by the speaker deflecting the sound towards me rather than away, that seems to really help as well.

I've been using the volume + app since I got the nexus at launch and it's super loud, sometimes it can be too loud. As for the speakers, they seem like they can handle the volume real well.

I agree abut the sound boosters....I have two friends of mine who blew their speakers using them. I had a problem and my speakers blew on my N7, even though I never used a sound booster.... I was lucky enough to where Google replaced my N7 with the blown speakers.....my replacement N7 seems much louder than my old one so it could be that Asus may have fixed the speaker issue in the later builds.

That's with MX player isn't it, really does give a much louder sound.

I can recommend the monster clarity hd blutooth speaker. You can get a refurbished one on ebay for 40 bones.

I just tried hooking up a nice set, Logitec computer speakers with a powered sub, and the sound is awesome. It's something you would only use at home though.

Thinking about it, the low volume on the stock unit is probably for the best and may even be by design. If I'm at home, I don't use it to watch movies, listen to music or surf the web. I have much better equipment to do those things with than the Nexus.

The N7 (at least mine) is mainly used away from home and in public. On a plane, train, restaruant or in a waiting room, loud volume from it would for sure disturb other folks in the area. To really enjoy your movies, games or music, you're pretty much forced to use ear buds or head phones. I think that's a great idea, as I'd hate to be seated next to some gamer blasting the sounds in my ear, watching some movie or playing his/her rap music with the sound blasting.

I use a Jawbone Jambox. It makes the sound MUCH better coming from any device
