How do I open a backup that was created by the HTC sync manager?

how to open a backup which was created by HTC sync manager?

Dear all

i backed up my mobile before i unlock the bootloader (for programming purposes)
and then i took out the HSMBachup file and kept it on my external HD.
i formatted my pc and then installed again HTC syn manager.
i thaught if i put back that file in the backup path of htc sync manager it will detect it .
but not

i need a way to open that backup and restore at least my famaily phots.

It should work. Make sure that the directory is correct.
