How do I recover calendar events?

I opened the calendar shortcut from the circle time widget on the home screen of the droid turbo. While the calendar was opened, I hit the refresh button and now all of my events have disappeared! Everything-past,present,future gone. "Refresh" doesn't mean "delete" so I'm not sure what happened here but I had TONS of info in that calendar. Anyone know how to recover the events?

I don't know. I looked in the settings and everything is checked for sync: (Google, Hotmail, device calendar). Thank you for the link but nothing is there. The only things showing in the calendar is US holidays. I find it hard to believe that one tap of the seemingly innocent refresh button can wipe out months worth of scheduled events without even a warning pop up or a way to recover the information. I was under the impression "refresh" would do just the opposite- like show the "refreshed" calendar with my most recent entries. Sorry for the long reply

Well, you can look in the trash on Google Calendar on a PC following these instructions: https://www.google.com/search?q=res...5.9143j0j7&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=119&ie=UTF-8

That shows any events deleted in the previous 30 days, so maybe the events are there? (Assuming that you are syncing with Google Calendar.)

But it's also possible for calendar events on the phone to be local only and not synced. If that is the case, I know of no way to restore them. (This is a very, very good reason to always have some sort of calendar sync - Google, to an exchange server, etc.)

I have never heard of hitting refresh deleting calendar events.

Thank you for the thorough responses. I followed the directions from your link on my PC but there's nothing in the trash either. 'Sync to Google' is checked in the settings and the phone calendar does show US holidays, which is from Google so maybe I have something turned off in another setting..or maybe I had to manually sync all this time? Seems the calendar was just local and hitting 'refresh' caused Google and Hotmail to "update" my calendar with no events. Which still doesn't explain why nothing was synced before if 'refresh' automatically synced them. Well I think I need to stick to an old fashioned paper calendar from now on. Thanks again for the replies.

Sorry that it's happened to you, but I'd try populating events in google calendar on your computer. Verify that they are syncing to your phone. I've been doing this myself with phones for about 8 years now and I've never lost an event.

If you're still uncomfortable, though, obviously a paper calendar is a well-known use case. But, if you forget your calendar, or lose it, you're in the same state you are now, and rescheduled events can be a hassle.

Good luck, and, again, sorry that you had the issue.

Im about to begin the process of re-entering my events in to the calendar that I can remember. My accounts are set to sync but in the calendar settings it says "device calendar non-syncable." Does that mean I have to open Google Calendar every time I add an event so it syncs to my phone? I wish it was the other way around.

Sounds like the device calendar is your default. In your calendar app, touch the three dots in the top right and look at the calendars to display. Make sure that your Google account calendar is checked. When you make an event, make sure that the calendar in the drop down box at the top is your Google account. That should make it sync. Events stored on the device calendar are local and will not sync.

Also, you can do the data entry on google calendar on a browser on a pc and let them sync to the phone. That has to be easier than entering them on the phone.

Since I don't always have access to a PC and I like to enter events into the calendar at the moment on the phone, I skipped all the work-arounds and just downloaded the Google calendar app itself. (which is actually a very nice app) Then, deleted the third party calander I was using and disabled the stock calander. This way only Google calander opens from the home screen circle widget for quick access. Now I easily enter events and everything syncs. Thanks for all the suggestions I never would have thought of doing it this way. I wonder why it's set up where the stock calander can't sync from the phone, and why Google calander isn't the default on every Android.

I'm glad that you got it all sorted out.

Just FYI, maybe you should have mentioned you were using a third party calendar app in the beginning? Which app was it?

"Calendar Widget: Month" by CandI Apps. It was nice to use because it shows your events written out on the calendar in month view, instead of the stock app's dots and lines. I didn't mention it because I had opened the stock calander when I tapped the 'refresh' button. Not only did that wipe out all my info on the stock calendar, but on the third party app as well. Anyway, good came out of it because I think we've figured out what happened and now I'm using Google Calander which is just as good if not better. Thanks for your help.
